The Alaska-cedar, also referred as Chamaecyparis nootkatensis, i usually found close to coastal or mountainous, moist regions of North America from Alaska south to Oregon. To recognize it it is mainly a medium-sized evergreen tree, making it an uncommon plant! In the summer, more or less, its foliage is evergreen, needle -like leaves and in the automn it is more or less no autumn color. The Alaska-cedar (Chamaecyparis nootkatensis) also has flowers being not of ornamental importance and the fruits it has are globose, brown cones. An interesting characteristic it has is its bark, where we see squared stems on it. Something that is noticeable to know on the way it is cultured is that prefers deep, moist, loamy soil However, an inconvinient with the Alaska-cedar can be that hard to find and expensive We can easily recognize a Chamaecyparis nootkatensis with its needle-like leaves.
