The Creeping Wintergreen, scientifically known as Gaultheria procumbens, i usually found close to Newfoundland south to Georgia, west to Michigan. To recognize it it is mainly evergreen, making it a plant very different from others. In the summer, the form of its leafs is more or less alternate, simple, evergreen leaves and in the automn its foliage is specially leaves develop reddish tinge in cold weather. The Creeping Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) grows flowers that are urn-shaped, white with hints of pink and its fruits are more or less large fleshy red capsule. It has a beautiful Bark, where we can see gray/brown, smooth stems on it. An interesting fact on the way it is cultured is that organic, acid soils with good drainage An inconvenient with the Creeping Wintergreen can be that difficult to replicate preferred growing conditions It can be easy to recognize a Gaultheria procumbens having its low, groundcover habit.
