The Drooping Leucothoe, also called in Latin Leucothoe fontanesiana, can be found more or less around mountainous regions of southeastern U.S.. It normally look like a suckering, colonizing shrub, making it a beautiful plant In the summer, its foliage is more or less alternate leaves, 2-5" long and in the automn its foliage then is zone 4 to 6. The Drooping Leucothoe (Leucothoe fontanesiana) has beautiful flowers that are in May and the fruits it has are capsule. An interesting characteristic it has is its bark, where we can see stems mix of green and red on it. An interesting information to note about its culture would be that prefers moist, cool, acid soils An inconvenient with the Drooping Leucothoe can be that desiccation burn in winter in exposed sites A way to identify a Leucothoe fontanesiana having its stout, glabrous green-red stems with little lateral branching. The Drooping Leucothoe's propagation is uncommon since it is done cutting root readily in June or winter root easily with hormone
