The English Ivy, in Latin Hedera helix, is generally living in zones around Europe, western Asia and north Africa. It is usually shaped as a vine climbing by aerial rootlets or a prostrate groundcover, making it a very interesting plant! In the summer, its foliage looks like leaves are dark green with white veins and in the automn its foliage then is evergreen, no fall color. The English Ivy (Hedera helix) grows flowers that are only occur on the adult form and grows fruits that are a berry-like black drupe. Its bark is very interesting, where a special pattern can be found, on old plants the bark is light brown, with shallow ridges and furrows on it. An interesting information to note about its culture would be that full sun to heavy shade However, an inconvinient with the English Ivy can be that lack of sufficient cold hardiness; special attention is needed in selecting cold hardy cultivars It can be easy to recognize a Hedera helix having its evergreen, alternate leaves. The English Ivy's propagation is done in a special way since it performs it easily rooted from stem cuttings
