Fragrant Snowbell
Latin Name:      Styrax obassia location:      Manchuria Japan and Korea
The Fragrant Snowbell, also called in Latin Styrax obassia, i usually found close to Manchuria, Japan, and Korea. It is usually shaped as a deciduous small tree or large shrub, making it a very interesting plant! In the summer, the form of its leafs is more or less alternate leaf arrangement and in the automn its foliage then is yellow fall color. The Fragrant Snowbell (Styrax obassia) also has flowers being white flowers and grows fruits that are pubescent drupe. It has a beautiful Bark, where a special pattern can be found, gray brown bark color on it. An interesting information to note on the way it is cultured is that prefers moist, organic soil An inconvenient with the Fragrant Snowbell can be that lack of cold hardiness can be a problem in the colder parts of its useful range We can easily identify Styrax obassia having its pendulous flowers below the foliage.
