The Japanese White Pine, in Latin Pinus parviflora, i usually found close to Japan. To recognize it it is mainly evergreen needle conifer tree; small to medium size, making it a unique plant! In the summer, its leafs are changing looking like needles in 5's and in the automn it can be described as same as summer foliage. The Japanese White Pine (Pinus parviflora) also has flowers being blooms in May and contains fruits that are brownish-red 1.5 to 4" cones. An interesting characteristic it has is its bark, where a special pattern can be found, smooth, gray when young on it. An important thing to know about its culture is that full sun is best However, another characteristic with the Japanese White Pine can be that somewhat slow growing A good way to identify a Pinus parviflora with its needles in 5's. The Japanese White Pine's propagation is very interesting since it is done seed moist stratified for 3 months
