Lacebark Pine
Latin Name:
Pinus bungeana
location:
northern and central China
The Lacebark Pine, referenced in Latin as Pinus bungeana, can be found more or less around northern and central China. It usually looks like evergreen tree, making it a very interesting plant! In the summer, its foliage changes to a new form, more or less 3 needles per fasicle and in the automn it can be described as no fall color (remains green). The Lacebark Pine (Pinus bungeana) grows flowers that are monoecious and the fruits it has are tawny brown cone. An interesting thing is its bark, where we can see exfoliates to reveal brown, rust, green, and cream bark on it. Something that is noticeable to know about its culture would be that adaptable to most soil types and pH as long as they are well-drained However, a bad thing with the Lacebark Pine can be that weak crotches and multi-trunk habit causes limb breakage and trunk splitting in heavy snow and ice We can easily recognize a Pinus bungeana having its needles in 3's, with a raised midrib. The Lacebark Pine's propagation method is done in a special way since it is done by seed, no pregermination requirements
