Limber Pine
Latin Name:      Pinus flexilis location:      Rocky Mountains of Western US
The Limber Pine, scientifically known as Pinus flexilis, lives around Rocky Mountains of Western U.S.. To recognize it it is mainly evergreen needle conifer, making it a very special plant among others! In the summer, more or less, its foliage is needles in 5's and in the automn it generally looks like same as summer foliage. The Limber Pine (Pinus flexilis) has flowers that are monoecious and the fruits it has are 3 to 6" long, resinous, light brown cones. It has a beautiful Bark, where a special pattern can be found, young bark is smooth, greenish gray on it. Something that is noticeable to know about its culture is that best in full sun Also, an inconvinient with the Limber Pine can be that slow to medium growth A good way to identify a Pinus flexilis having its often confused with Pinus strobus. The Limber Pine's propagation method is pretty interesting since it is done cold stratified seed, 1 to 3 months at 35-40oF
