Needle Fir
Latin Name:
Abies holophylla
location:
Manchuria and Korea
The Needle Fir, which is also referred as Abies holophylla, lives around Manchuria and Korea. It can generally be recognized as evergreen tree, making it a beautiful plant In the summer, its leafs are changing looking like 0.25" to 1" long, fairly stiff and in the automn it generally looks like no fall color (evergreen). The Needle Fir (Abies holophylla) has flowers that are no ornamental value and grows fruits that are medium brown cones. It has a beautiful Bark, where we see new stems yellowish-gray on it. An interesting information to note about its culture would be that prefers moist, well-drained, acidic soil However, another characteristic with the Needle Fir can be that not likely to perform well under harsh landscape conditions We can easily recognize a Abies holophylla having its needles have pointed tip. The Needle Fir's reproduction is very interesting since it performs it by seed
