The Poverty Birch, scientifically known as Betula populifolia, i usually found close to northeastern United States and northeastern Canada. To recognize it it is mainly deciduous small to medium tree, making it a very special plant among others! In the summer, its foliage is more or less alternate, simple leaves, 2" to 3.5" long leaves and in the automn it generally looks like yellow. The Poverty Birch (Betula populifolia) has flowers that are blooms in April, but catkins visible prior to bloom and the fruits it has are small nutlets held in cylindrical catkins, 0.75" to 1.25" long. Its bark is very interesting, where we can find reddish brown, thin and smooth on young trunks on it. Something that is noticeable to know about its culture is that very easy to grow However, an inconvinient with the Poverty Birch can be that birch leaf miner is very disfiguring to the foliage and major limitation. It does not kill the plant however You can recognize a Betula populifolia having its acuminate leaf tips.
