Purpleblow Maple
Latin Name:
Acer truncatum
location:
China Manchuria and Korea
The Purpleblow Maple, which is also referred as Acer truncatum, is normally found around China, Manchuria and Korea. It can generally be recognized as deciduous, making it a plant very different from others. In the summer, its leafs are changing looking like opposite, 3" to 5" wide and not as long and in the automn its foliage is specially usually yellow and orange with some red. The Purpleblow Maple (Acer truncatum) grows flowers that are greenish yellow in May and contains fruits that are samaras, 1.25" to 1.5" long. An interesting thing is its bark, where we see gray brown on older branches and trunk on it. Something that is noticeable to know about the way it is cultured would be that apparently adaptable and hardy, but uncommon, so data is limited An inconvenient with the Purpleblow Maple can be that seems to be relatively problem free based on limited data A good way to identify a Acer truncatum having its milky foliage sap. The Purpleblow Maple's reproduction is uncommon since it does it by seed, but seed viability in the U.S. may be low
