The Red Oak, which has for Latin name Quercus rubra, i usually found close to northeastern and north-central U. S.. To recognize it it is mainly a large, deciduous tree, making it a very interesting plant! In the summer, its foliage is more or less alternate leaf arrangement and in the automn its foliage then is a mixture of russet-red, yellow and tan. The Red Oak (Quercus rubra) grows flowers that are pale yellow-green catkins (male) and contains fruits that are 0.75" to 1" long brown acorn. An interesting characteristic it has is its bark, where we see brown to black on old branches and trunks on it.
