Scotch Broom
Latin Name:
Cytisus scoparius
location:
central and southern Europe
The Scotch Broom, known in its Latin name to be Cytisus scoparius, i usually found close to central and southern Europe. It can generally be recognized as 4' to 6' tall deciduous shrub, making it a plant very different from others. In the summer, its leafs are changing looking like deciduous and in the automn its foliage is specially fall color not ornamentally important. The Scotch Broom (Cytisus scoparius) grows flowers that are blooms in May and into early June and its fruits are more or less 1.5" to 2" pea-like pods. An interesting characteristic it has is its bark, where we see stems are green year-round on it. A fact to point at about its culture would be that needs full sun An inconvenient with the Scotch Broom can be that tends to be somewhat short-lived A good way to identify a Cytisus scoparius with its year-round green stem color. The Scotch Broom's reproduction is very special since it will do it by cuttings for cultivars
