The Soft Maple, which is also referred as Acer saccharinum, lives around eastern United States and central plains, but not in the southeastern states. Also adjacent parts of Canada. It usually looks like large tree to around 70', but can reach well beyond 100', making it a fabulous plant! In the summer, its leafs are changing looking like opposite leaves, 5-lobed, fairly deeply incised and in the automn it is more or less typically leaves drop a greenish yellow or green. The Soft Maple (Acer saccharinum) also has flowers being monoecious with male and female flowers on separate branches of a tree; some flowers may be perfect as well and grows fruits, characterized as samaras, 1.3" to 2.3" long, maturing in June. An interesting characteristic it has is its bark, where a special pattern can be found, trunk and branches are silvery-gray on it. An important information to know about the way it is cultured would be that easily grown, transplanted and established so data is limited However, an inconvinient with the Soft Maple can be that rapid growth creates weak wood which breaks easily in storms or under ice load A good way to identify a Acer saccharinum with its stems when broken produce a strong odor. The Soft Maple's reproduction is done in a special way since it performs it by seed
