The Southern Fir, which is also referred as Abies fraseri, is normally found around Appalachian Mountains in the southeastern United States. It normally look like evergreen tree, making it a plant very different from others. In the summer, its leafs are changing looking like 0.5 to 1" long needles and in the automn it is more or less no fall color (evergreen). The Southern Fir (Abies fraseri) has flowers that are no ornamental value and grows fruits that are tan to medium brown cones. Its bark is very interesting, where we can find smooth, dull green bark turning brown and platy with age on it. An interesting fact about its culture would be that easily transplanted with root pruning An inconvenient with the Southern Fir can be that dislikes high pH We can easily identify Abies fraseri with its needles have notched tip. The Southern Fir's propagation is uncommon since it will do it by seed, stratification period beneficial for good germination
