Tara Vine
Latin Name:
Actinidia arguta
location:
Japan Korea and Manchuria
The Tara Vine, originally named Actinidia arguta, is generally living in zones around Japan, Korea, and Manchuria. It usually looks like a twining vine; requires support, making it a very special plant among others! In the summer, its foliage looks like alternate, simple, unlobed leaves with sharp serrations; 3" to 5" long and in the automn it is more or less very late to color and drop leaves. The Tara Vine (Actinidia arguta) grows flowers that are whitish-green with purple anthers; 0.80" across and contains fruits that are berry, 1" long, fleshy, greenish. An interesting thing is its bark, where a special pattern can be found, brownish, with many lenticels on it. A fact to point at about its culture would be that best grown in infertile soil to slow its growth However, an inconvinient with the Tara Vine can be that may outgrow it's boundaries if not pruned vigilantly You can recognize a Actinidia arguta with its a twining vine. The Tara Vine's reproduction is very interesting since it is mainly done by seed
