Turkish Hazel
Latin Name:      Corylus colurna location:      southeastern Europe
The Turkish Hazel, also called in Latin Corylus colurna, i usually found close to southeastern Europe. It is usually shaped as a deciduous tree, making it a unique plant! In the summer, its foliage changes to a new form, more or less alternate leaf arrangement and in the automn it is more or less yellow to purplish-red fall color. The Turkish Hazel (Corylus colurna) has flowers that are monoecious and grows fruits, characterized as nut, 0.5" across. An interesting characteristic it has is its bark, where a special pattern can be found, pale brown bark on it. Something that is noticeable to know about its culture would be that tolerant of extreme conditions An inconvenient with the Turkish Hazel can be that difficult to find A way to identify a Corylus colurna having its alternate leaf arrangement.
